"Fashion has always been part of my life, it's very seriously my playground!"
Maria Olsson

What is your signature?

I like simplicity whatever the execution, whether painting an entire body blood-red on a beach in Tel Aviv or redefining an eyebrow in a studio, I aim at using the particular beauty of every model to inspire and strengthen the photographer's vision.

What is the most complicated task ever demanded of you?

In an issue of Dazed & Confused, together with Vincent Peters. Painting three faired skin models into a deep dark brown color. Applying as well as removing turned out to be a rather complicated affaire.

What do you find fun about your job?

Fashion has always been part of my life, it's very seriously my playground. I love being part of a creative team that keeps fashion moving and hopefully inspires many.

What inspires you?

Peoples personalities. Faces. Clothing and color. The beauty of nature but also the darker side of urban existence and youths eternal rebellion to transgress the established. No story is ever told twice. It's always the beginning when I start a new project.

And the job that you won’t forget?

I won’t forget any !

What do you see as modern in today’s make-up ?

I think it's about Blurring the Boundaries between old and new values, past and present. Make-up is to me neither classic nor modern, chic or punk nor retro or futuristic but a blend of all these.
